Oases in space (2D/3D)
Summary: We live on a watery, precious planet. Life as we know it needs liquid water to appear. Is the Earth unique in the Solar System? How can we detect water on another planet? Are there other oases of life in our galaxy? Let’s go on a journey through our Solar System in search of water, in its three states: solid, liquid and gas. A visit from the craters of Mercury to distant Pluto, passing by the arid surface of Mars and the moons of Jupiter.
For the general public from 8 years old, accessible with a “Complete Journey” ticket.
A Planet to preserve
Date: From December 17, 2022
Production: Theofanis Matsopoulos, Regional Natural History Museum of Plovdiv, ESA
Summary: The Earth is our cradle, the only known place in the universe where we can live. Thanks to satellites, we study it, we analyze it, we monitor its evolution. Space agencies and private companies have been working on this for decades. The European Space Agency (ESA) has a fleet of satellites dedicated to the observation of climate, oceans, cloud formations or natural disasters. How do ESA’s satellites work? What valuable information do they give us? What role do they play in protecting the planet?
Adults-Adolescents from 12 years old, accessible with a “full trip” ticket
New exhibition:
Accessible with a “Complete trip” or “Exhibition visit” ticket
From the Earth to the stars
Date: from January 14, 2023 to January 2, 2024
Production: CITÉ DE L’ESPACE DE TOULOUSE
Summary: Rockets, probes, satellites, robots… humanity has deployed its technology to explore space from the Earth to the stars. This human presence in the cosmos is useful in a wide variety of fields: astrophysics, Earth observation, but also medical and technological research, telecommunications, space tourism … Proof, if any were needed, that space is now a major issue in our society!
An exhibition to take a look at the amazing tools developed by space research, around 5 main themes:
- Living in space: discover past and future human spaceflight missions through real space objects,
- Going into space: a dive into the world of propulsion with rocket models,
- Observe the Earth through the extraordinary performance of satellites,
- Explore the Solar System with the explorer robots and the sentinel probes,
- Discover the Universe through the breathtaking photos captured by Hubble.
Labs linked to the temporary exhibition: Journey into the vacuum of space
The planetarium welcomes you to surprise your collaborators in the astronomical garden, the panoramic room, the agora, the relaxation area, the immersive room or a partial or total privatization of the place.
